Our Story
In 1953, James Tennant Sr., started Piston Ring Service & Supply as a two-man Machine Shop in central Winnipeg. Throughout its history, Piston Ring has led a constantly evolving and aggressive attitude to change.
Piston Ring is currently owned and operated by Jim Tennant and Trevor Tennant (James Sr.’s son and grandson), and continue on with their third generation, Melissa Tennant & Meredith Thoendel working at Piston Ring.
Our Winnipeg based company employs over 550 full and part time people and utilizes in excess of 400,000 square feet of distribution and retail space, carrying large inventories, systems and support for our customers.
Expansion and acquisitions has resulted in our present day ownership of 25 corporate Piston Ring/Auto Value Parts stores and 16 associate stores in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Northwestern Ontario. This growth has kept Piston Ring as one of the leading automotive aftermarket companies in its trading area.

At Piston Ring we stand behind our products and will honour warranty claims made at any of our Auto Value associate stores in North America. We provide the Confidence Plus North American Warranty Ⓡ. This 12-month/20,000km limited parts and labour warranty demonstrates commitment to quality and to our customers. All repairs and service performed at an Auto Value Certified Service Centre are backed by this warranty, giving customers assurance at home and on the road. If an issue should arise, the customer can return to the shop where the repair was done or if they’re far from home, any one of our 20,000 preferred service center partners across North America.Also under the North American Warranty program, parts submitted for warranty claims that were purchased at an affiliated auto parts store can be exchanged free of charge (excluding any labor costs) at any affiliated auto parts store throughout North America.

Be sure you are covered
- The part was purchased at an affiliated auto parts store.
- The customer has the original proof of purchase.
- If the part is a brand not normally carried by the store honoring the warranty, the part will be replaced with a comparable brand.
- The part fails within the manufacturer’s warranty period.
- Part should be returned to the original auto parts store if the customer is within 50 miles. (engines, crankshafts, transmissions, power tools and equipment are not applicable and must be returned to the original store)
